Static Design

Self-standing panels in reinforced aggregate concrete cast on site represent the ideal structural solution, with a consistent behaviour, strictly connected to their geometrical features. More precisely, the extended wall structures, poorly reinforced in concrete, exhibits an additional self-standing element, in terms of the quality of the reinforced aggregate concrete.

Similar structures therefore exhibit more consistent and higher self-standing capacities (if compared to similar works, in brickworks or with a framed self-standing structure), both in case of vertical (gravity) and horizontal loads as well (wind and earthquake). Under such conditions, extended wall structures, poorly reinforced, duly taking their features into account, allow in many cases (not consistently high structures or structures placed in low seismicity areas), complying with requirements imposed by the anti-seismic design, with no need of any additional vertical reinforcement, if compared to what originally forecast by the manufacturer (such a feature should be duly checked case by case by the accountant designer).

Laying

The formwork placed in trenches, connected with the same horizontal reinforcement, positioned corners and shoulders should be, as the last intervention before pouring concrete, lead them to the second operating practices. The lead seal of the formwork is obtained using the dedicated push-pull, or any equipment that the manufacturer deems suitable for the purpose.

Depending on the type of wall and following the provisions of the project manager can prepare props every two formwork. The mounting against the upper edge of the shore of the parades may be made by exploiting the characteristics cap of polypropylene: being unscrewed the lock allows the prop feels the same.

The end bottom of the legs usually crashes on shore, with boards and nails driven into the concrete floor.

The concrete casting filling can be forecast with a bucket, different pumps, or conveyor belts. The casting capacity should never be higher than 8 - 10 m3 per hour and the casting itself should be oriented to the panel vertical centre.

The concrete fluidity should comply with a S4 slump, with a granulometry curve, whose more consistent inert matter accounts maximum for 15-18 mm.

The aggregate concrete casting is to be divided on the entire formwork height, moving from forward to backward, inside the formworks, laying some casting layers, 40-50 cm high, up to the entire height, 10-15 cm from the internal side upper level.

Installations

Designing and laying any generally forecast installation inside a building is not different from any other building constructed with traditional systems, as in the majority of cases cable trays are held inside the wall thickness, 5 -7.5 - 10 cm, that is the EPS internal plate thickness. Electric boxes, or anything else whose thickness is more consistent than the EPS plate, are to be positioned, before casting, in the wall formwork.

The “trace” installation setting on the wall is eased by the surface availability, where, with a simple felt, it is possible to mark what is required. Later, with a simple hot blade tool or a cutter (controlled by a common driller or electric drill), it will be possible to rapidly and neatly groove, within the EPS plate thickness, the required path to fit the electric, water and sanitary cable trays as well as any cable connecting box.

No wall building assistance, always very expensive, asking for people and more time, will be required and at the same time the yard will be cleaner and tidier. The installation piping, inside the traces, could be closed or partially covered with plaster or rapid concrete, polyurethane.

Installations
Internal finishes

Three different types of finishes can be laid on the Plastbau® wall, from filler, coating to dry finishes. The internal finish besides conditioning the wall g~ thicknesses and their external appearance, leads to different sound performances in the surrounding rooms. It is possible to lay a coating according to the suitable coating specified by the many manufacturers. As for dry finishes, it is possible to use the standard methods, on the specific structures supplied by the manufacturers, to be screwed on the wall plugs, used for the lead adjusting.
